Funerals
A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. These can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.
Everyone is Entitled
Everyone is entitled to have a service taken by their local ministers whether or not they came to church. Speak to us for more information or you may find the Church of England website helpful.
Arrangements
If you are starting to make the funeral arrangements for a loved one, then your funeral director will make the bookings that are required.
Memorial Service
Each year, on the Sunday on or before 2nd November we hold a Memorial Service at 6pm when we remembered our loved ones departed through words, music, silence and also light a candle in their memory. All are welcome to attend this most moving service.

Christening
Everyone is welcome to have their children Christened in their parish church. During the Christening service your child will be baptised and with the support of the church, you and godparents, your child begins an amazing journey of faith.
Christening Information
All you need to know about planning and going to a Church of England christening can be found on www.churchofenglandchristenings.org. It includes information about another church service to say thank you to God for your baby (Thanksgiving).
Arrange a Christening
If you would like to arrange for your baby or child to be christened, then please come to the Church on a Saturday morning between 9.30am and 10.30am and we can look at dates etc.
Journey of Faith
Sometimes, seeing someone else christened, deciding to have your own child christened or being asked to be a godparent, can make you think about your own journey of faith. If you were not baptised as a young child, you may be deciding now as an adult or a teenager to make this commitment. If this is you, then please contact churchwardens@stjamesmilton.org.uk to discuss this further.
