Wilderness

Wilderness

The season of Lent is upon us very quickly this year. No sooner have we celebrated Candlemas with its celebratory tones then we find ourselves gathering for Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent. Maybe if all the churches agreed that Easter should be on a fixed calendar date then we would allow ourselves a little more breathing space.

Star Wars and the Lord’s Prayer

Star Wars and the Lord’s Prayer

I am old enough to remember the first Star Wars film being screened and to this day I have never watched any of them in their entirety. I may have tried but it was not the right day or time or maybe I just don’t like science fiction. So given the hype about the latest film just released I thought a little research would be in order.

Christmas in a Nutshell

Christmas in a Nutshell

I don’t know if you have noticed from the build up? Adverts on the telly, shops decorated, decorations in the shopping streets and spied through people’s windows. But we’re at that time of year again! But is Christmas just about the shopping, tree or presents? In a nutshell, it’s all about a God who has showed up on earth. The creator of the universe, who hands flung stars into space, cared enough to come to earth as a tiny baby. ‘The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighbourhood.’ (John 1:14, The Message).
